The remains of the house formerly owned by a 19th Century Sydney businessman along with several other artifacts were discovered during excavation for the Hunter Street Metro station in Sydney.
The NSW government are now facing a predicament whether to destroy the remains to make way for the station or to retain them to make Sydneysiders aware of the city’s past.
This new development is now part of a larger scheme to protect many of the city’s heritage listed areas along both George Street and Hunter Street.
