In the next few weeks a decision is expected on whether activities in two coal mines in the Hunter are extended until 2045. There are concerns the extension of the mine will hamper NSW’s efforts to reduce carbon emission with the extraction of 429 million tonnes of coal adding to the state’s carbon missions.
