Radyo Palaro is Back!

On 28 May 2022 (Saturday), local children will make 4EB their playground. Radyo Palaro, radio drama for kids, will hold a singing workshop with the Van Jam crew, radio ad voice recording in Studio 4, and filming a promotional ad with kids who have grown with us since 2015. Bella, Diego, Stef, and Nicole have not missed a Radyo Palaro cycle and are now in their teens. Bella is developing into a creative writer and will be presenting her own script. Stef now has a weekend job but took time off to voice-over the character of a mystical fairy, Diwata Makiling. Diego has been awarded a multicultural scholarship proudly referencing his numerous engagements at the station. He is introducing his little sister, Hannah, debuting in a role as the warrior queen, Urduha.

Over the years, this project has celebrated Filipino culture amongst second generation Filipino Australian through dramatising children’s folktales passed on through generations. Radyo Palaro have invited kids from the 4EB community to expand their culture capital through the workshops (acting, haka, dancing). A growing team of audio content creators are also recipients for training opportunities:  new 4EB members, Denise Dizon and Camille Punzalan contributed to writing and sound editing; Musician, Carl Anacin, is in-charge of musical direction and Van Jam with kids’ workshop; and Simeon Remata, Nikki Domingo, Sharon Olofernes and Art Cruz are assisting in production.

Radyo Palaro team wishes to thank 4EB staff for the admin and technical support, 4EB members for ‘lending their kids’ and the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF – www.cbf.org.au)
