First Nations of the World is a program that showcases issues and perspectives from people with a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background who identify as First Nations from a country outside Australia. According to the United Nations, there are more than 470 million Indigenous people worldwide, which is 6.2 per cent of the global population.
Producer of the program Julio Correa started his interest into the topic when he realised that First Nations people from CALD backgrounds don’t have a platform in Australia to share their culture and perspectives.
Having a Latin American background, Julio decided to start producing First Nations of the World focusing in Latin American Indigenous people. However, the program is aimed at supporting and encouraging those now living in Australia but are still wanting to connect with their original lands and cultures.
