The NDIS is one of the successes from the Gillard government, offering support for people with disability.

However, the vison of a more holistically focused NDIS is yet to be fully implemented.

Currently NDIS only provides support for one in ten enrolled in the Scheme, leaving many Australians with disability ineligible for assistance.

Experts say “Foundational Supports” will be an opportunity to rebalance the system and reduce demands on NDIS.

Available from July, Foundational supports will be co-funded by Federal and State governments providing a new set of “community based” supports outside of the NDIS.
