As mentioned last month, Saturday, May 27 & May 28 saw a sizeable contingent of Radio 4EB staff, members and board members attend The National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council (NEMBC) (https://www.nembc.org.au/) conference. It was a fantastic weekend where everyone was able to meet with colleagues from right across the country and explore both the challenges and new positives that face all of us in our brave new world.
A networking evening on the Friday night hosted by our compatriots 3ZZZ FM in Melbourne provided a fantastic opportunity to experience their new studio arrangement and catch up with friends old and new.
Amongst plenaries and panels, Saturday saw attendees split into groups to address a wide range of questions before the Gala Dinner on Saturday night. Although not officially confirmed, it was heard whispered around the halls that had there been dancing prizes awarded for the evening that they most definitely would have gone to Radio 4EB attendees!
The NEMBC Annual General Meeting (AMG) on Sunday saw both 4EB Chairperson Faiza El Higzi and Radio 4EB Station Manger Jo Pratt elected to the NEMBC Board whilst Radio 4EB doyenne broadcaster Irene Bayldon was appointed NEMBC secretary. Irene will also continue in her role as the NEMBC women’s group representative for Queensland whilst last but not least, Radio 4EB member Alofaina Mamea was officially elected to the NEMBC Youth Committee.
