Join Queensland’s largest multicultural celebration! It’s time to embrace our diversity and build belonging by taking part in Multicultural Queensland Month (MQM).

Queenslanders speak more than 190 overseas languages, hold more than 110 religious beliefs and come from more than 220 countries and territories around the world.

MQM presents a unique opportunity to explore this diversity through festivals, events, webinars and podcasts featuring different types of cuisine, music, performances and conversations.

But it’s not just about festivities – it’s also about encouraging understanding through sharing, listening, and learning. Join our free webinars or tune in to our podcast throughout August as we cover topics such as welcoming and inclusion, understanding cultural diversity, racism and more.

Here are some ideas how you could celebrate MQM:

  • Host an intercultural dinner to share different types of food, stories and traditions.
  • Arrange a cooking class where the chef shares their personal story and insights into their culture.
  • Invite a guest speaker to deliver a presentation on best practices for inclusion.
  • Organise training for staff on diversity, cultural capability, or inclusive workplace practices.
  • Create a video to share on your social media platforms – remember to use #MQM24 and tag us in any posts so we can show our support!
  • Organise a human library experience – check out this ABC news item to see how it was done in Western Australia.
  • Download resources to support your celebrations.
  • Register your public events on our events calendar.

By actively participating in MQM, you contribute to a stronger, more united Queensland.
