India gained independence from British empire on 15 August 1947. This year 2022 was marked as ‘Azadi ka Mahotsav’ (the mega celebration of Independence) as 2022 is a milestone year for India.
GOPIO Queensland organised the ‘India Day Fair’ and celebrated the milestone year of Indian Independence on Saturday 13 Aug at Roma Street Parklands from 10 am to 8 pm. 4EB was the media partner. Seema Sreekumar, Indian program Broadcaster of ‘Namaste World’ at 4EB, covered the event interviewing the organisers, stall holders and the public and clicked many pictures of the colourful day. Although the weather was not good till around 3 pm, the enthusiasm of people encouraged them to be at the venue and enjoy the fabulous celebration of Indian Independence Day.
