From the Station Manager,

Another month has passed (time flies!), and I hope everyone is doing well now that we’re in full swing for the year.

On behalf of the Board, staff, and volunteers, we would like to again express our deepest condolences to the Whanau (family) of our dear friend Willy James, who unfortunately passed away this month. Willy was a dedicated leader and Convenor of the Maori Group here at 4EB and a Multilingual News Producer for the National Ethnic Broadcast Association Council (NEMBC), but more importantly, a father, an uncle, and a good friend for all of us. You will be missed dearly, Willy!

In other news, we received a grant from the Logan City Council Regional Development Fund to deliver our project 4K WAVE, skills development and content creation project providing the opportunity to young multicultural people from the area to develop and build their skills in radio (podcasting, music, and journalism, etc).

In addition to this success, 4EB has secured a second year of delivering a full length year of 4K WAVE at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre, a partnership delivery that will see the program go from strength to strength in continuing the development and training with young participants in detention to empower positive outcomes for young people. 4EB is looking forward to making the greatest impact through radio, music and podcasting.

We are very proud to have been the media partner to broadcast the Queensland Chinese Form this year, after 3 years of hiatus, and we would like to continue covering the events that matter to our multicultural community. If you would like to cover a community event, get in touch with us!

Thank you so much for your ongoing support with the Radiothon! If you pledged for donations, you’re still in time to contribute. Please call the station or email us [email protected] to find out the best way you can donate.

And this month we have freebies! Make sure you read our newsletter to find out more.

Warmest,
Jo Pratt
