Multicultural Monthly Sept / Oct Issue
Can you believe October is ending?
We’re ready to dive into November! It has been a busy couple of months here at the station for 4EB. If we haven’t yet met my name is Queenie Pelesa, I work at Radio 4EB as the ‘Corporate Services Manager’ tucked in the back-office corner keeping myself and our brilliant staff team busy and moving!
I have the pleasure of highlighting the past couple of months and all the wonderful things that have kept us hitting the ground running. We are ending October in bringing you a combined Sept/Oct issue of our newsletter, because that is just how busy we have been!
I hope Spring has been joyful thus far, especially as we prepare for a hot season because Queensland as it seems is getting an early taste of summer! I also hope you’re looking forward to entering the festive season with lots of enthusiasm and excitement.
I’d like to begin sharing some key highlights and activities this Sept/Oct.
You’ve heard it already…It is FUNDRAISING season!
Our theme this fundraising season is: ‘INTO THE FUTURE’! Why? Because we’re on a mission to elevate the quality of our station, upgrade our studios and stay operating! Radio 4EB has officially launched its Studio Upgrade fundraising campaign this past month. Our mission is clear – and that is to raise $200,000 to give our studios the upgrade it deserves. We can all relate to our studios and equipment needing some fresh refurbishments and new equipment!
Within our fundraising this season, we have annual ‘RADIOTHON’ around the corner, taking place Friday 10th November – Friday 17th November. Radiothon is the one week a year where our supporters and listeners help us to support Queensland’s multicultural communities through 4EB. Radiothon is a vital fundraising endeavour which is significant in contributing to our radio stations operation.
Oh, and the fun part is when you donate, you’ll go into the draw to win some of awesome prizes!
Check out some of the prizes this fundraising season with a few more to be announced.

Every dollar helps the station to thrive.
An exciting funding partnership with St George Foundation!

In other exciting news, we are exceptionally proud to announce that 4EB has been awarded funding from the St George Foundation for our community engagement and radio project ‘4K WAVE’. What does this mean? It means 4EB can expand on the incredible community engagement and project work going into 2024!
This partnership with St George Foundation enables 4EB to continue to impact our young multicultural communities on the ground, by delivering on a much larger radio, podcasting, and music develop program with youth in Logan and linking them back to potential future developments at our radio station. 4EB was shortlisted amongst four other organisations awarded, with up to 300 applications submitted this last round. We’re looking forward to continuing to make the best impact possible, shaping 4EB’s future and building on this great partnership with the St George Foundation.
Lastly, I’d like to highlight Radio 4EB’s presence at The Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) and Mayors’ Forum 2023. APCS is our region’s premier Summit that brings together one of the largest numbers of city leaders with the best and brightest in business. Our 4EB team of staff and broadcasters spent three days from 11 – 13 October at the conference engaging with and interviewing delegates from around the globe delivering media coverage which concluded with two special broadcasted programs on 4EB’s FM and GlobalDigital. A key highlight of the conference focussed on the exciting arrival of 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and bringing business, industry, and cities together to enable them to build relationships and effectively contribute to the success and sustainability of our cities into the future.
We extend our gratitude and appreciation to our fantastic and passionate team of 4EB staff & broadcasters for their incredible work as our media team at APCS – Eduardo Jordan, Real Manyuchi, Carl Anacin, Joie Serrano, and Julio Correa. This is a great reflection on one of the many opportunities available to our 4EB groups, members and supporters to get involved with events such as this. If you’re interested in being a part future events and please express your interest on [email protected] because we’d love to involve you!
As always look out for all the activities and content, of some of our 4EB broadcasters and community members! Stay tuning through our social media platforms, website, and on-air.
Thank you again for your incredible and unwavering support!
Kindest,
Queenie Pelesa
Corporate Services Manager
