After a 3-year hiatus from COVID restrictions and inclement weather, the ‘Chanukah in the City’ celebration finally returned to Brisbane, and 4EB’s Hebrew group was there welcoming visitors.

The event was held at Queens Gardens Park in the CBD where hundreds attended. It featured the beautiful large Menorah, designed and built by G James Glass and Aluminium in loving memory of the late Joe and Pearle Saragossi OBM.

David Boyar did the MC honours, alongside guest speakers Rabbi Levi Jaffe, who delivered the Chanukah message, State Minister Hon Mark Furner MP and Libby Burke from the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies.

‘Chanukah in the City’ had the infectious grooves of Byron Bay based Shai Shriki Band and an impressive fire show for attendees to admire.

It was a successful evening thanks to the support of volunteers and sponsors. Chanukah in the City is supported by the Brisbane City Council and the Qld Government and is a project of Chabad Brisbane.
