The Philippines is an archipelago comprising of over 7,000 islands. The islands are divided into three groups: Luzon (North), Visayas (Central), and Mindanao (South). Home to over 100 million people, there are 120-175 languages spoken across the islands rooted from Malay-polynesian origins and evolved with Chinese, Arabic, Hindu, Spanish influences through centuries of commerce, trade, and migration. While most modern aspects of Philippine cultural life evolved under 300 years of Spanish colonial rule, Philippines being the trading route in asia maximized multicultural influences. We love our bright jeepneys, colorful fiestas, sari-sari stores, lively variety shows and all the flavors in halo-halo.
