Under the 4EB Newsroom, the Sports Newsroom program will train members and participants to become community sports journalists. The program aims to enhance members’ skills in covering local sports, with additional workshop opportunities available for reporting on major sporting events.

For the first stage, we are seeking participants who are interested in ‘Sports’ whether you’re a beginner or an expert. The opportunity is only open to Radio 4EB financial members.

The aim of the Sports Newsroom is to train community journalists to produce high-quality sports journalism for our programming, with a potential opportunity to cover major sports events in the near future.

The training will be provided by the Community Media Training Organisation, over a period of six weeks.

Upon completing the training, Radio 4EB will launch a weekly sports news bulletin, broadcasting on both FM and Global platforms.

Expectations from members and participants joining the 4EB Sports Newsroom:

  1. To attend and complete in full the training provided by the Community Media Training Organisation and pass assessments.
  2. Be available and committed monthly to produce a news bulletin or a sports program (with guidance from 4EB’s Newsroom).
  3. Be able to attend and cover community sports events along with the CMTO Trainer.
  4. To work collaboratively in a team.

Once the training is complete, you will be able to produce news about sports in English and In-language.

The Sports Newsroom is a pilot program proudly funded by the Community Broadcasting Foundation and supported by the Community Media Training Organisation.
