Brisbane’s most anticipated event of the year returns for 2022 with a vibrant new look and program, filling the city with joyous connections, curiosity, inspired stories, and a deep civic pride from 2—24 September. With the tagline Be Bold. Be Brave. Be Brisbane, through over 580 performances – 230 of which are free – including 22 new works, 12 Queensland premieres and six international presentations – as our city landscape changes and undergoes unprecedented growth, so too does Brisbane Festival.

Celebrating the personality of our city and redefining what an International Arts Festival looks and feels like. Some Radio 4EB program highlights include:

The House: 13-15 Sep

Brisbane Festival is heating up with Meanjin’s trailblazing ballroom house – The House of Alexander reigniting South Bank Piazza with their newest show,

The House is a show that emphasises the sweet storytelling of the ALL QPOC cast as they journey through the intersectionality of both traditional/modern dance, song, spoken word and much more; all through a cultural, personal & ballroom lens – an ode to the stories of our ancestors…the stories that make this house, a home.

For three nights only from 13 September.

Queen’s City: 21-24 Sep

Brisbane Festival will showcase the premiere of Queen’s City at QPAC. A theatre production set in the nostalgic Eighties, Queen’s City is the debut work from Alethea Beetson of Blak Social with an explosive story, plenty of laughs and a rocking original soundtrack.

When politicians threaten to tear down All Ways- a karaoke bar and skating rink, to make way for ‘cultural’ attractions, the All Ways crew – Truth, Justice, Magick and Grace must find a way to rewrite the past to save their beloved place.
