About
Humanists Brisbane on Radio 4EB is a weekly radio program dedicated to exploring Humanism as a modern, ethical, and compassionate life-stance. The program introduces listeners to the values, ideas, and real-world applications of humanism—an approach to life that centres reason, empathy, critical thinking and our shared humanity.
The purpose of the program is to make humanism accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life. Each episode dives into themes such as ethics without superstition, science and evidence-based thinking, human rights, community-building, social progress, and the importance of living a meaningful life grounded in human experience.
Humanism is a worldview that emphasizes human dignity, individual rights, reason, and compassion. It is grounded in the belief that people are capable of ethical decision-making and meaningful lives without reliance on supernatural beliefs. In multicultural societies like Australia, humanism plays a critical role in fostering respect, equality, and understanding across cultural lines.
Australia’s cultural landscape has been significantly shaped by waves of immigration, making it one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world. This diversity brings both opportunities and challenges for social cohesion. Humanist principles offer a framework for engaging with this diversity by promoting mutual respect and the universal value of human rights.
Hosted by Meg Moller and Julio Correa, along with regular and occasional guests, the program aims to:
Promote understanding of humanism and its role in shaping thoughtful, inclusive, and ethical communities.
Encourage curiosity and critical inquiry, empowering listeners to explore ideas with an open mind.
Showcase humanism in action, featuring people and organisations working to improve the world through compassion, cooperation, and reason.
Build connections among diverse communities by sharing stories, perspectives, and opportunities for involvement.
Invite reflection and engagement, helping listeners connect humanist ideas to their own lives and values.
Humanists Brisbane on Radio 4EB is for anyone interested in how we can think deeply, act kindly, and build a world grounded in dignity, inclusion, and shared humanity. If you’re curious about humanist philosophy, modern secular ethics, or simply want thoughtful radio that celebrates people and progress, this program welcomes you.
